Brand new preschool campus facility coming to Korematsu Elementary as part of DJUSD Bond Program

Thanks to the Bond Program, most DJUSD Valley Oak preschool classrooms will be relocated to a brand new preschool facility being built at Korematsu Elementary. Informational community meetings scheduled in February.

Design planning is now underway for the relocation of a portion of the existing preschool programming from the Valley Oak campus to the Korematsu Elementary campus. This movement will provide new opportunities by creating an all new preschool campus at Korematsu Elementary School. It will also provide space on the Valley Oak campus for the relocation of Da Vinci ninth grade students to join their high school peers.

These new buildings at Korematsu Elementary are tentatively scheduled to be built on the west side of campus, near the parking lot off of Loyola Drive. While two preschool classes will remain at the Valley Oak campus, this new preschool facility construction will increase the total number of DJUSD preschool classrooms by two. Included in this project is a proposed expanded parking lot and student drop-off/pick-up area that would be available to students campus-wide. This Bond project may be completed as early as Fall 2021/Winter 2022.
